Pre-Bikon Pavement Sign

The other day during my walk I found a sign on the side of the rode that indicated the boundaries for the bicycle lane. It was a pictorial representation of a pedal bike. I called it a ‘bikini‘. Yesterday, I found another pavement sign indicating the bike lane. I suppose it is an historic sign, […]

Blue Arrow and Sewer

I look for signs. Maybe I should have been a tracker, but… I stick to the sidewalks. But a blue arrow pointing into a sewer? I don’t remember seeing that before. I have seen manhole covers that say ‘sanitary sewers’… maybe this is the curb version.

Mondrian Composition 300 CRY

I keep seeing Mondrian’s work everywhere I go. I came across the rare Mondrian 300 CRY (an emotional work), just today. Here are some of the others I have found: Mondrian 300, Mondrian 002 OXY, Mondrian 240, Found Art, More Found Art.

Left Lane Ends

Sometimes I just have to snap the shutter. I took this photo in traffic just before entering the Lincoln Tunnel, headed to New Jersey from New York City, years ago. I like the geometry of the square sign, the trapezoidal opening to the tunnel on the other side of the road and the diagonals of […]

Palliative Care – Dream

Yesterday I expressed my difficulties dealing with decisions that must be made when one prepares an advanced healthcare directive. I saw this sign in the hospital today. I wish it were that easy.

Is This Really Necessary?

I was at the hospital the other day. I took a picture of a sign in one of the step-down unit rooms. In general it is not a good idea to make assumptions but some things are very basic. Kudos to the committee that approved this sign. There is no telling how many injuries the warning […]
