Exception

Yesterday I mentioned that subways below ground are devoid of color, while above ground, the full visible spectrum dominates.  I’m not certain whether my photo below is the exception to this rule or if all of Brooklyn is black and white.

Underground at Union Square

Underground passageways have been a theme of my dreams since childhood. One source of this dream content (in addition to the contribution of general psychological factors) could be a trip to see the Yankees at Yankee Stadium with my dad when I was a kid. We saw Mickey Mantel, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris and company play. They […]

S-Curve

I took the photo below during one of my walks in Brooklyn, when I lived in NYC in the 1980s and 90s. It was somewhere near the Verrazano Bridge that connects Brooklyn to Staten Island. I like the gentle curve of the park benches as well as the sawtooth shadows of the slats on the bench […]

Streets

I haven’t lived in New York City for about 8 years, but it still seems like home. My wife and I were watching a Woody Allen film the other night. It was set in the late 1930s, – early 40s, and for a split second, an art deco building appeared in the background. “That’s on 2nd […]

Bookstores, NYC

I love books. During my time in New York City, I frequented many of them, amassing quite a library. I also loved the way they looked. I continue my photography showcase a couple of bookstore photographs from NYC.

Newsstands NYC

Continuing the showcase of my NYC photographs (see Subways NYC), I selected two photographs of newsstands I took when I lived in New York City from the 1980s to the early 2000s.

Subways NYC

I am using this opportunity to begin a showcase of some of the photographs I took when I lived in New York City from the 1980s to the early 2000s.  The photos below are selections from the photographs I took during my rides on the subway.

Review of Photographs of My Brother

I began this blog in January, 2013 with a mission to reveal my experience as the younger brother of a severely handicapped individual. Mike is autistic, very low functioning and has never spoken. I began photographing Mike on his 40th birthday in 1989. Today’s post is the first in a recapitulation of those photographs. I […]

My Analog Past

I loved doing the graffiti sketches of the past couple of months, and I’m sure I will return to more draftsman-like subjects, but for now I want to challenge myself in a different arena. Here is the basis for the art to follow: My Analog Past Everything is digital these days. These days? How about for the […]
