My studio desk is very messy, from a housekeeping point of view. However, from the perspective of a sketcher, it’s not messy, it’s detailed. From a watercolor stance, it is fairly homogenous. Note to self: Arrange desk so it is visually interesting.
The study I painted the other day reminded me of the brain. I used the same diagonal strokes in the composition below. This time, a solid sphere coalesced. The streaks imply motion. Thus the abstract nature of this painting dissolves into representationalism.
