Crowd at the Table
I have no recollection of taking this photograph, nor can I identify the subject. Any guesses?
At this sketch session, I had a bit of warning that the subjects would be leaving soon. I adjusted my pace to capture as much as I could. I have been surprised before when my portrait sitter left suddenly.
There was lots of webbing between the long pointy leaves of the yucca plant. I took a dried leaf and gently poked at the web. The little fellow pictured below showed himself. He wouldn’t come out any further though. Pity. I wanted to see him closer.
I retrieved most of the lemons from the tree in the back yard the other day. Lemon trees equip their branches with wicked thorns. Long and sharp. The lemon pictured below is very well protected.
Usually, the people I draw are upright. The man at the table next to me must have been really tired. His head was supported by his folded arms and he was snoring away. He seemed quite cozy. The drawing immediately below is a blind drawing, done while looking at the man and not the paper. […]
