Two Thinkers

The man on the right caught my attention. He was dressed in a brand new, snappy, solid black coat. The rest of him was the opposite: old, wizened and gray. His gnarly hands were particularly interesting. He was in deep concentration. The other man, much younger, was also taken up with the book he was […]

Angular Man

I left my sketchbook at home. I’m glad they have some where I work. The paper was lighter and had a smoother surface, so I was happy I had my ink pens. The person at the table next to me was all over the place. I knew that a stick-figure skeleton would work as the […]

Sweet Reader

I could tell that this person was really sweet as she settled down at her table. I almost had  enough time to sketch a second pose, but my 15 minutes were up before I got too far. The erasures photographed as grey areas, giving a smudgy look to the piece.

Quick Figure Sketches

Readers

Another 15-minute sketch. I adjusted the scope of today’s sketch to include the table in the cafe with the most readers. I tried to capture posture and gesture, once again.

Two Thirty-Five

I bring a book and my sketch pad whenever I go to a place where I may be waiting. I have been limiting my sketch time to 15 minutes, which is long enough to fill an 8×5 inch sheet of paper with scribbling that indicates a sense of my visual environment.  If I find myself waiting […]
