Vintage Photo: Burlington Book Store, NYC 1989

This book store was on 81st Street on Lexington (I think). I searched for whether it is still around and found that it went out of business in 1995.

Mike Sketch Project: The Beginning, Mike’s 40th Birthday 1989

Today I changed my focus from self portraiture to revisiting images of my older brother Mike. Mike is autistic, low functioning and nonverbal. Quarantine Portrait Series: Self Portrait From Memory

This book store, Shakespeare Booksellers, was planted directly across the street from the Gryphon Bookstore that I showed yesterday. I took these photos before Barnes and Noble opened up across from Shakespeare.

Quarantine Portrait Series: Self Portrait – Neutral

Yesterday I mentioned the work of John Coplans. He did a series of photos (that I admired) showing his aging body. I thought that I would explore a similar project through my series of self portraits. However, there are some differences that may make this impossible. First, photography, although not strictly objective, is more objective […]

Quarantine Portrait Series: Self Portrait with Double Chin and Jowls

I leaned over the camera for the reference shot to this quick sketch.  I wanted to see the weight of my face.  I also got to see my double chin. My dad had a double chin; s I only see my double chin now and again.   For some reason, as I posted this latest […]
