Quarantine Portrait Series: Self Portrait, Reclining
It took me quite a while to get this just right. Heidi kept moving.
There were bright highlights and dark shadows in the reference photo for this sketch. I decided to emphasize the eyes by using an eraser to brighten the whites.
When I took this one, the workers were sandblasting, painting or doing something else messy. Teddy Roosevelt, his horse and Indian Guide had to be wrapped up. I just heard that there is some talk of removing this monument, given the interest in removing offensive statuary.
