Black Dragon Cloud Puffs White
I don’t have an unobstructed view of the sky from our back window. Black telephone and/or power lines interrupt the scene. I pretend that the sky in the picture below is hanging out to dry on the three clotheslines thoughtfully provided.
Something in the automatic settings of my photo editing software made the top part of my cloud picture turn gray. I like to think that it is the darkness of the upper atmosphere.
I was thinking of a way to translate yesterday’s photograph into watercolor. I have figured out a way to paint facsimiles of clouds – generic clouds. I keep my eye open for interesting manhole covers, street signs, unusual painted lines in parking lots, but one of my original ‘go-to’ subjects is clouds. Many times, cloud formations are the most compelling, but once in a while a single cloud can hold its own.
