Made To Be Broken

Rules were made to be broken. I didn’t expect it to be so soon. Only yesterday I thought that the subject of my abstract compositions would coalesce after I finished painting, thus the title of my post yesterday, Paint Now, Add Title Later. Today, I broke that rule.

Today’s watercolor experiment:

I dripped my frisket thoughtfully. A splash on the upper left part of the paper, tilt and rotate; another splash on the right side, repeat the process.

At first the traces of frisket reminded me of a maze. Then two figures emerged. The title thrust itself on me: Love at First Sight.

Below is the preliminary stage of today’s composition:

Watercolor: Stage 1 - Love at First Sight

Stage 1 – Love at First Sight

Putting the finishing touches on this composition was a lot of fun.

Watercolor: Abstract Rendering of Love at First Sight

You may notice the home fires burning, which I imagine are the engines of the love; the slightly off kilter electric stare between the two; and the ghostly hand of lust that is inexorably linked to love at first sight.
