Before I started today’s composition, I painted the paper white. Then, intending to draw a hand-like structure, I painted five yellow lines. I began to surround them with blue, then I changed to green. I opposed the green with a reddish earth tone and outlined the shape enclosing the ‘hand’ in black. Within the shape I left an off-red square with a green surround. The two other squares are outside the closed shape.
Imaginary lines connecting the three squares, form a triangle. The closed shape can be inscribed in a triangle as well. I like the interaction between the three squares and the shape containing the five-fingered structure.
