Abstract Dentate Formation

I worked with ultramarine rose and ultramarine blue today, as well as lemon and English yellow.  I began with a variation on a check mark drawn with a number 10 round brush dipped in ultramarine rose. I traced the outer contour with ultramarine blue and outside the blue, lemon yellow.  On the inner contour of the rose curve, I painted English yellow.

Before I determined that this structure would be a lower jaw, I zig-zagged parallel ultramarine rose and blue traces. Above them I painted English yellow and allowed them to interact.  I got a wonderful color mixture as a result.  A slight tapping of the watercolor block gave me the sharp teeth-like spires.

Deep Sea Dentate

It was at this point in my process that I realized I had created a hungry deep sea creature.  In the spirit of mercy, I painted in a lure with the hope that it would attract much needed food for its gullet (not pictured).
