When Free Form Becomes 3D

Today’s experiment began as a doodle. I dragged the nearly weightless stick of charcoal across the rough watercolor paper. I used a paper stump to drag the dark outlines of the doodle into the loops. I love that this process produces shading and the appearance of three dimensionality. I hate the sound and feel of the stump against the watercolor paper. It gives me the chills.

Watercolor and Charcoal: Free Form 3 Dimension

Abstract 3D
12″x9″ 140# Cold Pressed Watercolor Block

I love turning a random doodle into a sculptural work.

My alternate name for this piece is ‘Adam and Eve’. Does this make sense to anyone else?
