I love the work of Joan Miró. I would also love to emulate his work but, I have not yet come across any writings that detail his methods. Paul Klee left several volumes of writings summarizing his teachings at the famous Bauhaus. I don’t think it likely that Miró wrote anything like that, so I will rely on writings about his work by art historians and other experts.
I’ve read a little bit about Miró’s The Farm, painted in 1922 and purchased by none other than Ernest Hemingway. The Farm is an homage to Miró’s home in Catalan. It is arranged in a grid, wherein many important symbols of his life at that time, are arranged. Miró noted that this painting represents a summary of his life on the farm.
I can do that!
Below is my first attempt at creating and arranging symbols from my life on my original homestead (suburbia, not a farm). For now, the arrangement is haphazard, and the symbology is not completely developed, but I see an interesting path ahead in pursuing this goal.
I’ll be interested to see where this goes…and why not suburbia? (K)
Me too. I have some ideas, but not fully formed as yet. I’m stuck with suburbia… that’s where I grew up.

Me too! Many of us.
