Amoebas in Love

Today’s post is a palette cleanser of sorts.  I completed the studies of my brother Mike from three frames of a movie my father took many years ago. Mike is autistic, nonverbal and very low functioning. The images from that series may be found in the following posts: Dark-Eyed Mike #1, Frame #2, Frame #3, Three Frames.

I began today, by pouring some liquid frisket (a latex rubber resist) onto my watercolor paper. I jostled it around a bit and let it dry. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to make of the pattern. I found two spots that suggested eyes, and an area that suggested flames. The results, below is ‘Amoebas in Love’.
