Right now, I am probably on the red-eye to the east coast. Mom is going to be ninety years old in a couple of days and I am going there to celebrate it with her and family.

The only problem is, Joy won’t be able to go with me. She came down with the flu and she is flat on her back. We were really looking forward to going together, but now it is just me.

My watercolor below is perhaps, an iconic image of parting. The TV series, Six Feet Under used a similar image to illustrate the ultimate parting, in the opening credits.

Departing from one place implies arriving at another.
