House Painting

This post was supposed to be another painting lesson with my ten year old granddaughter, Sidra. We painted side-by-side the other day.

I drew a little sketch of her home and did a bit of an underpainting while she was at school, hoping to engage her in adding to it later in the day when she got home. Alas, it was not to be. “I like it just the way it is. It’s beautiful,” she said.  My granddaughter, ever the diplomat.

Off to the bookstore:

Sidra loves books. We went to the book store to look for books for her biography project about Anne Frank. She made a bee line for the kids section. I tried to steer her to Biography, but she insisted.  She got ahead of me. When I caught up, she was in the kiddie biography section with all the “Who Was… ” books. There were a couple of “Who Is… ” books for the stories of people who were still alive. Sure enough, Anne Frank’s story was there.

We did end up at the grown up biography section. We bought another biography and also Diary of a Young Girl.  She was proud to have a story in Anne Frank’s own words.
