Yesterday’s post was an edited photograph of Dave (my younger brother) and me standing outside Mike’s building at Willowbrook. (For those of you just joining me, Mike is my older brother who is autistic, low functioning and nonverbal.) I’m hugging Dave. I replaced my head with Mike’s, from another family photograph, and Dave’s with mine. The result was a pictorial representation of Mike hugging me, something that never happened in real life.
I did get a thrill upon seeing Mike hugging me, even though it was a made-up picture. However, Mike’s expression was… expressionless. He didn’t seem to be enjoying being there with ‘his’ arm around me.
So I put Dave’s expression on Mike’s face. Dave was enjoying that real-life hug from so long ago.
