Abstract – Brotherly Love

I originally started this blog in 2013 to record my experiences trying to reach my severely handicapped older brother, with the hope other siblings might know they are not alone with their mixed feelings.  My brother Mike, as many of you already know, is very low functioning, autistic and nonverbal.

I refer you, dear reader, to several of my previous posts that detail some of my experiences and efforts. From a child’s perspective:  Michael, My Older Brother; Fences; Three Pumpkins; Mike’s Building at Willowbrook. More recent observations: Those Moments; A Walk With Mike; Family Dynamics. Early incitements to artistic expression: The Eyes Have It; The Autist and Me; Autism Sibling & Expression.

Below is a representation of one aspect of my interactions with Mike.
