A personal exploration of autism from a brother’s perspective, including family relationships, philosophy, neuroscience, mental health history and ethics
Griffin was on Broadway and about 79th across from Shakespeare and Barnes and Noble. But you’re right. there were a lot of hole in the wall places back then.
It’s across from Zabars and one block from Barnes and Noble. Of course there’s a Staples and and Starbucks on the block now too…I think Shakespeare has popped up again somewhere, but not in its old location.
Haven’t seen it. I’m almost afraid to, given that most bookstores have disappeared. Thanks for the recommendation! I have other snaps of NYC bookstores on my site.

If its in the 80s on the upper west side it’s still there…at least it was before covid-19. (K)

You think it’s the Griffith Book Store? I had a feeling that it was the Pagent Book Store in the East Village.

Perhaps all those hole in the wall bookstores look the same. I was thinking of Westsider Books, but they may have had a different name a one time.

Now there is a bookstore I could get happily lost in for hours, maybe even days!

Have you watched the fabulous documentary about NY bookstores? It’s called The Booksellers- it came out this year and it’s on Amazon Prime 📖
