Film Strips

Thank You

Before I begin today’s blog, I would like to thank everyone who gave me encouragement about yesterday’s blog, which touched on the angry feelings I had growing up. I understand that these feelings are legitimate, but I did not know if I stepped over the line to disrespect. So, thank you for the feedback to my wife, Joy; my friends at Sibnet, including Anne C, Anne L, Cassie Q, Harleen S, Mary H, and Sheila B; my fellow bloggers, Rose, Ruth, Megan and Tazein; and my good friend Jan H.

Film Strips

I mentioned in a previous post that my father took 8mm home movies of my family, particularly when we went on vacation. I converted them to VHS (anyone remember videotape?) and played through them on TV. I scanned through them looking for something. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was looking for.

Below are some still from those movies.

Contact sheet pictures of Mike, autistic brother

In the top row of pictures, Mike seems to transform into something strange. In the middle filmstrip, he seems like a regular kid enjoying himself. The first two pictures on the left of the bottom strip are of S___, my friend’s sister and Mike. We all went on vacation once. I was jealous of her. She seemed to have some kind of rapport with Mike. The last frame is of Mom, Mike and me. Dad probably did something to annoy Mom. I don’t know if you can see the expression on her face. Everyone is entitled to anger, especially on vacation with Mike and Dad.
