Meditation Series: (5/6) More Nature-Inspired Designs, LA 2024

I began this sketch by inking the texture of palm tree bark, with a water-soluble ink pen. Within the areas defined by the edges of the bark, I applied watercolors. It reminds me a bit of an ant farm or other structure with separate chambers. The watercolor unifies the composition.

  1. Oh, very cool!!
When you say it reminds you of an ant farm or other structure with separate chambers I thought of this really interesting post at Neatorama.com that I just came across and a bit of history I didn’t know. Kowloon Walled City. There is link at the bottom of the post to a cross section rendering of what this place may have looked like when occupied. Very ant farm-like and chambered like your watercolor.
    Nice work.
