I was surprised to see this AIDS epidemic protest poster among my early photographs. This poster notes the slow response of the Regan administration to the AIDS epidemic. Interesting to note that the same players active in AIDS research back in the 1980s are active in the fight against COVID today. The slow response to the AIDS epidemic primarily affected gay people and IV drug abusers therefore it was not important to the Regan administration.
The more things change…(k)
I was surprised to see Fauci’s name on a poster 30 years old.
A friend of mine who is a doctor spoke highly of his work with AIDs. He was evidently one of the few to take it seriously early on. So I think the sign maker chose the wrong target for his wrath–though there was plenty of guilt to go around.
I agree, although I’ve heard some negatives on Fauci from the medical community. The real villain at that time was Regan, who just could not be moved to do anything.
It seems to me he is the starting point for how far we have fallen.
That is my opinion as well.
