The photo app identified the subject of this sketch as Perez’s Sea Lavender, native to the coasts of the Canary Islands, but widely seen in gardens around the world.

I started the sketch with the idea of detailing each of the individual flowers in each ball of lavender. After a gallant effort, I decided to go with more bold strokes to give an impression of these purple flowers amidst the surrounding greenery.
