I love signs painted with gold leaf, outlined in black. They are so classy. This sketch is a detail of the reference photo (taken in 1989) for this series. Luthier (Sam) Rosenthal passed away in 1968, so the shop that bore his name must have been passed down to new owners. I don’t know if his shop still exists, but a search on the internet reveals that some of his violins remain in circulation.
