Quite by accident I discovered a feature of my phone/camera. I saw this wonderful hybrid pinecone/red pointy stalk flower on a tree that I was walking past. I took a photo and, when I looked at it in the photo app, it told me the name of the tree! (In this case, the tree was called ‘Erythrina’.) This series details some of the cool looking plants in my neighborhood.

(By the way, the photo app does not work in reverse. I took a photo of my sketch and the app did not supply the name of the plant. Instead, it labeled my picture as “Artwork”. I guess I’m grateful for that, but perhaps my later sketches will be less hyporealistic.
