Meditation Series: (1/8) Hands of My Life, New York, 1990s

These are the hands of my father. He loved music and mathematics with equal passion. Here he is conducting music at my aunt’s house. I forgot which record was playing. He immersed himself in the music, not only with the sensory part of his being but also with the motor portion of his brain. These activities included ‘conducting’ symphonies on the radio, singing favorite operatic arias (in his own way), playing the violin, and learning to play the piano well past his retirement.
