This sketch was done quickly, without looking at the page. I thought that this lady would get up at any moment. I’m told that the proper parlance for pocketbook (or ‘pocabook’, a term I remember from youth) is purse. Pardon my anachronism

I say pocketbook. Much of the time. And I do remember pockabook too. My grandmother said it.

My wife thinks I’m 100 years old, when I say pocketbook. (I’m not (quite).)

I know, I try to say purse, because that’s what people say in my area, but at times my childhood term reasserts itself (after 40+ years living here) and I use it, getting interesting looks. Well, too bad, I’ve always liked the word. I need to help it stay in circulation.
