I worked on the pen and ink study from the other day (Pen and Ink Practice). I added more color to the original blue monotone. I added some yellows and greens to the central form, and a red accent on one of the wormy shapes.
The surrounding shapes took on more subdued colors.
Finally, I extended the Prussian blue halo to surround around all the forms.

I think this still holds together. If I were to touch it up a bit, I would subdue the yellow (perhaps glazing it with blue) and keep the red as the only focal point of the central form.
I really do like it! It does feel kinda brainy. Well done!

I saw the modern version of ‘The Thing’ recently. Perhaps the idea of the alien crept into this composition.
