A lot of art today relies on technology. I’ve been reading a bit lately about the dawn of tech in the arts. I have also been reading about the beginnings of Abstract Expression in the 1940s and 50s, and the studios near 10th Street and 4th Avenue in New York City.  I was surprised to read that some of the scientists from Bell Labs, in nearby New Jersey also used to frequent the Manhattan haunts of some of these artists. In 1966 two artists  (Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Whitman) and two Bell Labs engineers (Billy Klüver and Fred Waldhauer) and the artists.collaborated on a series of performance pieces called 9 Evenings: Theatre and Engineering.

I inked hard straight lines and curves over a softly shaded representation of clouds. The study below portrays the realm of mathematics on the same stage as figurative artistic representation.
