Another self portrait influenced by Alexej Jawlensky. This time, I used a 3/4 view of my face and, with my limited understanding of cubistic division of space, decided to paint the shadow in a flat, dark blue. The result is two portraits: the painting as a whole, a 3/4 view; and the silhouette of the right side of my face.
There is something very wonderful about this portrait. It really sings. N.
Thank you, Nina. I’m am not sure where this series will lead, but I am gratified that something seems to be happening. I’m a bit without a compass here. I really appreciate your comment!
best,
Jack
I agree. I see a secret speaking volumes.
Thank you Nancy. As I mentioned to Nina, I am exploring, hoping to continue my series. I am so glad this one has meaning for you.
best regards,
Jack
