The Rest

The Rest is history, as they say. But that’s not what I’m talking about.

I came down with the flu a little more than a week ago. The doc, or more accurately, the nurse practitioner said that it would take about three weeks to clear up. But, with the flu medication, I would be better in two weeks and six days. Big deal.

With my armament of the miracle flu drug, cough medicine, mucinex and tylenol, my fever abated within the first 5 or 6 days. I may have injured my stomach muscles from the coughing, however.   The cough is the only thing left, and it only bothers me at night when I have to lie down. During the day, I feel fine. After my morning coffee and the above mentioned drugs (except I’m done with the flu drug), I’m ready to go.

But there is the 2 weeks of rest to go. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the I’ll-rest-when-I’m-dead type. I’ve done plenty of resting in my time. I just think variety is the spice of life. I would really like to be doing something in between bouts of resting.

It seems a bit oxymoronic. The more one rests, the more restless one becomes.
