My parents and I returned to my brother Mike‘s group home many times after that first visit. On one notable occasion, I brought my violin. I thought that perhaps if he heard the same sounds that he used to hear at home, maybe something would click. I didn’t think that he would wake up and suddenly realize that we were his family… consciously, but maybe the humming would return. Mike used to hum entire symphonies when he was a toddler.
Here is Dad playing the violin, in his own inimitable way.
I call this photograph, “Mike Pretenting to Listen to Dad”.
The humming did not return.
are those hands over ears of placing of sound in ears concentration pose? 🙂
To me, this is one of Mike’s typical affects; I wouldn’t call it a pose, or anything like that, but it is not in response to Dad’s playing.
ah, so is your dad is a yahudi menuin? 🙂
Not exactly Yehudi Menuhin. More like Jack Benny…
